Jackson is from Papillion, NE and is studying mathematics and computer science. His non-profit experience includes partnering with Civic Nebraska. As a community impact project, his team worked together to define new challenges the organization had to deal with in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Jackson also had the opportunity to work with the non-profit Omaha By Design. His team designed and prototyped a concept called TREKPOINTS. This concept won $2500 in additional funding during the 2021 Hackathon. His leadership experience includes serving on the Scott Scholars Leadership Council, where he worked to discover and analyze areas of improvement within the program. He helped plan and execute a virtual event for incoming Scott Scholars in response to changes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. His internship experience includes working at the National Strategic Research Institute, on an interdisciplinary team focused on innovating the organization's newest wargame. In this role, he had to quickly learn and integrate complex political and military topics into tangible game improvements. The unique circumstances required meeting rigorous deadlines and collaborating remotely, culminating in a virtual presentation to STRATCOM senior leadership. This summer, he hopes to secure a position in the Scott Scholars Design Studio and use the Hackathon winnings to continue to develop the TREKPOINTS prototype. His career interests include pursuing his interest in the problem-solving aspect of pure mathematics and the applicable nature of programming. He hopes to find a career that will allow him to combine both of these passions.
