Jackson is from Omaha, NE, and is studying architectural engineering. His non-profit experience includes partnering with Prarie STEM. As part of a community action project, in 2020, his team created an app that connects students, teachers, and parents to build a greater sense of community in schools. He helped interview key members that defined the problems occurring at Prairie STEM, using Stanford Design Thinking, to create a solution, and presented it to the Board of Prairie STEM. This year, his team worked designed an add-on to an existing trailer so Prairie STEM could drive into communities and distribute STEM kits. They also created an app that contained all of the necessary instructions and manuals for the kits. His internship experience includes working at Ronco Construction, where he worked with many facets of the company including plan development, communicating with and assisting carpenters in the field, and writing addenda and change orders. He used Procore and Bluebeam extensively, surveyed points and elevations for utilities, and estimated the costs of future builds. This summer, Jackson will intern at Henderson Engineers in Kansas City, MO as an electrical engineering intern. His career interests include architectural engineering, with a structural emphasis. He enjoys design and especially the aspect of designing and assuring high-performing and high-functioning buildings.
