Evie is from Papillion, NE and is studying molecular and biomedical biology and bioinformatics. Her leadership experience includes serving as the secretary and treasurer of the Bioinformatics Club, where she writes minutes and determines projects for the club. She was also the assistant secretary for the Chi Omega sorority, where she took minutes, tracked attendance, and assisted with volunteer projects. Her internship experience includes working at UNMC with Dr. Rakesh Singh, where she has been working with pancreatic cancer to identify a mechanism for the over expression of certain chemokines which cause tumor angiogenesis and cell proliferation. Her research experience includes working in Dr. Paul Davis' lab on a parasite known as Schistosoma. She is currently conducting multiple experiments in order to figure out why the drug EE1 works to clear this parasite in-vivo, but not in-vitro. Her career interests include a future in infectious disease and biomedical research that will make a world-wide impact.
