Key Online Support Services

To have a beneficial online learning experience, we realize you'll need support both inside and outside your courses. Here you'll find excellent resources to help you better understand class assignments, online tuition and fees, military benefits, and accessibility to name a few. Use this page as a guide to help you get started and stay on track at UNO.

Academic Advising

An academic advisor will work one-on-one with you to create a degree plan that helps you achieve a meaningful educational experience and develop professional and personal goals. Academic advisors are available via video conferencing, phone, and email.


Criss Library

UNO Libraries provide access to many resources that are especially helpful to online learning students, including:

  • Over 200 databases, most containing articles published in thousands of research journals
  • Over 500,000 electronic books, historical newspapers, and government documents
  • Audio and video streaming services
  • Materials put on e-reserve for courses
  • Subject-specific research guides and citation guides
  • Phone or video research consultations available with subject librarians

Military-Connected Resource Center

The Military-Connected Resource Center has dedicated support services for military-affiliated students. Staff members are available to assist online students via phone, email, and/or Zoom.


Academic and Career Development Center

Online learners are encouraged to take advantage of the many services offered through the Academic and Career Development Center, such as career exploration, job & internship search, practice interview, and resume and cover letter review. Zoom sessions are available.


Accessibility Services Center

The Accessibility Services Center collaborates with students, administrators, faculty, and staff to ensure access to reasonable and appropriate student disability accommodations for on-campus and online learners alike.


Office of Financial Support & Scholarships

The Office of Financial Support and Scholarships is committed to making higher education accessible by minimizing financial barriers for students so they may realize their educational goals. They strive to provide services of the highest quality to support the academic mission and goals of the university and its students. They are ready to help our online students through a variety of methods, including phone, email, and student portal.


UNO Bookstore

The UNO Bookstore, owned and operated by the University of Nebraska at Omaha, is the official store for UNO merchandise, textbooks and supplies. The UNO Bookstore offers a convenient place for students to get everything they need for their academic career. Our large textbook department features: rental, e-book, used, and new textbooks.


Office of Graduate Studies

The Office of Graduate Studies partners with you on the graduate journey from start to finish, including admission, enrollment, and graduation. You will have the opportunity to apply for graduate assistantships, scholarships, travel awards, attend workshops, and have access to professional development opportunities. Math-Science Learning Center

The Math-Science Learning Center provides UNO students the assistance they need to conquer academic challenges in Math and Science. Help is available for online students via Zoom online tutoring. Students seeking an online tutoring appointment, should visit the Zoom Tutorial for Online Students.


Writing Center

The Writing Center offers online, synchronous appointments to assist students anywhere on any writing project. Students have the option of using audio/video during appointments with online writing consultants. Make an online appointment.


Speech Center

The Speech Center supports students in their speech writing process and delivery. Help is available for online students via Zoom online support. Visit the Speech Center website to make an appointment and see virtual hours of service.


Computer Science Learning Center

The Computer Science Learning Center offers peer-based assistance to several computer science core courses and related courses through peer tutoring and review sessions. To make an appointment and see virtual drop-in hours of service, click here.


Cashiering & Student Accounts

The Cashiering & Student Accounts Office is responsible for the billing of student charges and accounts. They work with students regarding the collection of past due accounts, answer questions about items on student bills, and administer various loans and scholarships. Should you have questions about online tuition and fees, they are the ones to contact.


Gender & Sexuality Resource Center

The Gender & Sexuality Resource Center aims to foster and promote equity, access, and inclusion for all genders and sexualities through education, resources, advocacy, and activism.


Multicultural Affairs

The Office of Multicultural Affairs collaborates with UNO and the greater community to share understanding and knowledge, cultivate meaningful relationships, and develop an appreciation for all perspectives. The success of multicultural students is their top priority.


Office of Research and Creative Activity

The Office of Research and Creative Activity provides opportunities and funding for students to show off their scholarly activity each year, and online learners are key participants and beneficiaries.


Service Learning Academy

Service Learning is a method of teaching that combines classroom instruction with meaningful, community-identified service. This form of engaged teaching and learning emphasizes critical thinking by using reflection to connect course context with real-world experiences. Service learning instructors partner with community organizations as co-teachers and encourage a heightened sense of community, civic engagement, and personal responsibility for students while building capacity and contributing real community impact. Many service learning projects engage in indirect service or advocacy that translate well into an online format.


University Registrar

The Office of the University Registrar assists students in registering for classes, ordering transcripts, and offers many other support services. It is their duty to safeguard the accuracy and confidentiality of UNO’s academic records. This office provide the UNO community with comprehensive technologies and services for enrollment and academic records management.
