Title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, which includes pregnancy and all related conditions, in all education programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance.
The University must excuse a student's absences because of pregnancy or childbirth for as long as the student's doctor deems medically necessary. Additionally, the student must be allowed to return to school with the same academic and extracurricular status as before the medical leave began.
