Microsoft has announced that, effective Nov. 1, Office apps for Android on Chromebooks will no longer be supported or available for download in the Google Play store.
These apps include:
- Word
- Excel
- PowerPoint
- OneNote
- Outlook
Existing Office apps for Android installations will continue to function but will not receive updates or security fixes.
Users should uninstall Office apps from their Chromebook device and instead start using Office web apps. Learn how to access Microsoft Office on a Chromebook from the web.
In addition, Chromebook users running Microsoft 365 will not be able to work offline. Instead, Microsoft 365 will need to be accessed from the web via Office.com and Outlook.com.
