Dave Hamer is a native Nebraskan, studied Business Administration at Wayne State College, and spent nearly 40 years in television news photojournalism.
His assignments took him to 40 of the 50 United States and to ten foreign countries including two war zones: Vietnam in the 1960's and the First Iraq War in 1991. His broadcast career began at KVTV, Sioux City, IA and he assisted in putting KETV, Omaha on the air. He spent many years at KMTV as Assistant News Director, at WOWT as Field Producer, and did contract work for NBC News.
He taught News Video at the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) for ten years, lectured annually at the NewsVideo Workshop at the University of Oklahoma for thirty years, and did freelance writing and production for local Omaha clients. He is now retired and volunteers for the Red Cross.
