UNO Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is hosting their annual "Santa Paws" Donation Drive event on Saturday, Dec. 7 from Noon - 3 P.M. inside of the Bookworm bookstore. All are invited to bring their pets to join in on the fun.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand to pose with pets. ”Elves” from the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) will take a photo of the pet on Santa’s lap, print the photo on site and turn it into a holiday card for a fee of $25. All photos will also be emailed to pet owners. Pet owners that bring a donation item will receive a $5 discount.
Items recommended for donation include:
- Gerber baby meat sticks
- Hard chew toys (no rawhides or Greenies)
- Soft treats
- Adjustable collars
- Laundry Soap
- Paper towels
- Trash bags
All proceeds go directly to Hearts United for Animals (HUA), a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. The nonprofit group’s major focus is to end overpopulation of domestic animals and the suffering of puppy mill dogs. Hearts United receives no government funding and exists solely on donations and the all-volunteer staff.
The annual event is sponsored by UNO chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). For the last 12 years, students have planned the event and donated the proceeds to a local animals shelter or rescue groups.
