Mavericks, get ready to rock.
The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) is proud to once again be sponsoring Maha Music Festival, a day-long nonprofit music festival. The ninth annual event is set for Saturday, August 19 at Stinson Park in Aksarben Village, just north of UNO's Baxter Arena.
Each summer, Maha brings together national, regional and local indie artists for a day of great music and community. This year, the lineup includes big names such as Run the Jewels and Belle and Sebastian.
This year, UNO's sponsorship - made possible by Baxter Arena, the Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center and Student Affairs - will help make Maha's Community Village possible. Featuring a variety of area nonprofits, the Community Village engages the audience in hands-on activities that appeal to attendees of all ages. The focus area for this year is mental health. As a community-engaged university, UNO is proud to help shine light on this important subject. It's part of our metropolitan university mission.
As part of the sponsorship, UNO was able to provide a limited number of discount tickets to the Maverick community. As of Tuesday, Aug. 15, all UNO discount tickets have been claimed.
