Students, faculty and staff at UNO are asking the Omaha community to help make the holidays a little brighter for families in need. Here are current and upcoming donation drives where you can help make a difference:
Diaper Drive (Dec. 1 - 15)
The Office of Spirit and Tradition is asking for help to donate 15,000 diapers to benefit the Lydia House.
Diapers will be collected up until Dec. 15 at MBSC 113.
Books for Africa (Dec. 1 - 15)
The Office of Spirit and Tradition is also asking for book donations to benefit the Better World Books movement all over Africa.
Donations will be taken up until Dec. 15. Just look for the green donation boxes at the UNO Bookstore, Scott Cafe and MBSC 113.
Gateway's Holiday Book Drive (Ends Dec. 15)
Everyone is encouraged to donate their new or gently-used children's books (appropriate for 4th through 6th grade) to help further literacy skills of students at Jackson Elementary School.
Drop off bins are located in the Milo Bail Student Center's information desk; Arts and Sciences, Room 107; and the Gateway's office, Eppley Administration Building, Room 113.

Open Door Mission Toilet Paper Drive (Dec. 1 - 18)
With 816 safe shelter beds being provided for men, women and children, toilet paper is always in high demand.
Drop off any donated toilet paper inside EAB 209.
Nebraska Medicine Book Drive (Dec. 1 - 18)
Business and Finance is collecting new books for the Pediatric Unit at Nebraska Medicine. They're looking for books for babies and teens and all ages in between. Donations can be dropped off inside EAB 209.
Food Fight in the Summit League (Nov. 29 - Jan. 18)
Join Baxter Arena and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee to help collect food for the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry. This year, UNO Athletics is partnering with WOWT to provide ample opportunities for you to donate.
Anyone who donates 2 or more canned food items at these following events will receive a free ticket to future designated Men’s or Women’s Basketball games at Baxter Arena.
