A Conversation on Anti-Blackness with Dr. Kyra Shahid

The Office of Multicultural Affairs, in partnership with The Collaborative, welcomes Dr. Kyra Shahid as our Black History Month Keynote Speaker for a conversation on anti-blackness. We all must acknowledge how racism and anti-Blackness within each of our individual communities have long perpetuated white supremacy and the continued violence against the Black community. Dr. Shahid is the Assistant Director for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the University of Michigan. As a diversity thought-leader and a purpose-driven educator, Dr. Shahid wholeheartedly believes that a strong sense of identity and purpose is the gateway to reconnecting with the global collective and forging love and justice between communities of difference. Film Screening: Black Panther

After the death of his father, T'Challa returns home to the African nation of Wakanda to take his rightful place as king. When a powerful enemy suddenly reappears, T'Challa's mettle as king -- and as Black Panther -- gets tested when he's drawn into a conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people.On the day of the event, registrants will receive a link and passcode to access the virtual screening room. Access to the film will be available from 8 A.M. until 11:59 P.M. on February 17th.

MCA Is Giving Away Maverick Basketball Tickets
The Office of Multicultural Affairs will distribute a block of Men's and Women's Maverick Basketball tickets during Black History Month events.
- 30 tickets are available for each of the games listed below.
- Tickets must be picked up in the MCA office only.
- Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis.
- Tickets will not be available at Baxter Arena and must be picked up prior to the game.
