As part of the Office of Student Involvement’s ongoing commitment to supporting the success of UNO student organizations, our team has launched a new program titled AmplifyU.
This program is a series of professional development workshops specifically for student organization advisors. The aim of this series is to provide our student organization faculty and staff advisors the knowledge, skills, and abilities to amplify their impact on the success of our students. We invite any faculty and staff who advise a student organization to come and connect with other advisors and learn something new. Refreshments are provided to attendees and RSVP is required.
This training provides information about why keeping kids safe during your event is important, ways to think through specific situations, and pathways to reach out for help or ask questions. In Nebraska, everyone is a mandatory reporter, so even if you aren’t planning to host an event with kids on campus, it is relevant information to have as a citizen. Refreshments provided to attendees.
Improve Safety and Minimize Liability While Hosting Youth on Campus
Monday, Feb. 17, 2 - 3 P.M. | MBSC Omaha Room
Suicide and suicidal behaviors are major concerns for colleges and universities. Suicide is a leading cause of death among college and university students in the United States. The most powerful strategy to help combat suicide risk in college is to create a campus culture where suicide prevention is a shared campus responsibility and all members of the campus community work together to create a culture of caring and support. We believe that through REACH Gatekeeper training we can reduce the stigma of mental illness, particularly surrounding suicide and depression. Refreshments provided to attendees.
