Microaggressions and Microresistance in the Classroom

Microaggressions (instances of indirect, subtle, or unintentional discrimination) occur all around us, including our classroom environments. As teachers, strategies for addressing these and other bias incidents are critical tools for creating civil, safe, and inclusive classrooms.
Dr. Cynthia Ganote will lead an interactive workshop on microresistance techniques that can be readily adopted as ways to combat microaggressions in the classroom. Participants will be encouraged to engage with concepts and strategies through dialogue and active learning techniques.

Dr. Cynthia Ganote from Saint Mary’s College of California will lead an interactive workshop for part-time faculty on strategies for addressing bias and fostering dialogue in the classroom to create civil, safe, and inclusive learning spaces.
