MavForensics is bringing home another trophy. The University of Nebraska at Omaha's (UNO) speech team claimed its fourth consecutive state title on Feb. 10. Now, the Mavericks plan to continue their streak and rank in the top 10 nationally for the ninth year in a row this April.
That's why this year's "Night Before Nationals" showcase will be one for the books. Speakers from the MavForensics team, including three national finalists, will perform nationally-qualified speeches. Only students of the highest caliber qualify to nationals, and 17 UNO speakers will compete this year.
Teams that rank in the top 10 nationally typically consist of 40 students. Yet, the MavForensics team consists of only 17 students and consistently take a place at the top.
The event will begin at 6 P.M. on Tuesday, March 27, inside the Strauss Performing Arts Center. The event is open to the public.
