For the second year, move-out week at UNO will offer an excellent opportunity to students, faculty, staff, and the Omaha community. Youth Mart and UNO’s Residence Hall Association have joined together to provide donation bins to the UNO and Omaha community to donate their gently used items to Youth Mart.
Youth Mart is a donation center that provides free furnishings and clothing to more than 300 19-year-olds who age out of the Nebraska foster care system each year. Students, faculty, and staff are welcome to donate items from April 25 to May 7.
Youth Mart, which was created in 2013 and is located at the Omaha Home for Boys campus, is a consortium of the foster care agencies and youth support organizations in eastern Nebraska. It has grown from an idea and a small amount of items to being a full-fledged “store” where youth can pick out furniture, small appliances, personal hygiene products, and clothing at no cost.
