New Security Layer Added to Firefly
An additional level of security awareness is being implemented for Firefly. Beginning February 22, 2016 an “Extended Validation Certificate” will be activated for Firefly. It will provide assurance that you have reached the genuine Firefly site and not a phishing attempt mock-up.
Whenever Firefly is accessed, from either a PC or Mac computer, you will see a change to the URL bar. Depending on the browser being used:
- The entire URL bar will display in green, or
- Only the left section ("University of Nebraska") will display in green.
Other circumstances where the validation certificate will appear include adding calendar entries from workflow (e.g.: leave requests), Firefly Help, SAPPHIRE, and approver actions for travel and leave. Some applications accessed from within Firefly will not have the validation certificate, as it launches to an external website. This includes TrueYou, eSHOP, WageWorks, Wellstream, etc.
But other than for those known external applications, if you do not see the green URL bar, please close the browser session and contact the UNO Helpdesk at 402-554-4357.
