Please read below for a letter from Dr. Kathy Lyons (The Office of Social and Civic Responsibility) and Bill Pickett (Student Involvement Subdivision) regarding relief efforts currently underway to help our neighbors in Pilger, Nebraska who are dealing with the aftermath of twin tornadoes.

Dear UNO Faculty, Staff and Students,
I’m sure you have seen the devastation caused by the tornados in the Pilger, NE community. The UNO community is ready to pull together and give our support to those in need.
The Office of Civic and Social Responsibility and the Student Involvement Subdivision have organized a drive on behalf of the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Donation Information
Any donations are welcome. The following items would really assist those in need:
- Cleaning supplies – Lysol wipes, sponges, mops, brooms, trash bags, etc.
- Plastic gloves or face masks
- Yard items – rakes, yard waste bags, outside brooms, etc.
- Bedding items – sheets, blankets, pillows, etc.
Drop Off Location (June 17 - 24)
A drop off location has been established in the Student Activities Office in the Milo Bail Student Center, 1st floor. We will collect donations from Tuesday, June 17 until Tuesday, June 24.
Future Volunteer Efforts in the Area
Once the area has been deemed safe for volunteers, The Office of Civic and Social Responsibility plans to organize volunteer efforts. Please watch for additional information within the week.
Monetary Assistance
Monetary donations are being accepted via the Red Cross. You can donate online or call 1-800-RED-CROSS. You can also send a text message to 90999 – keyword (RED CROSS) to make a $10 donation.
