After being accepted at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, here are some other items you may need to look into before the semester begins.
Planning on using VA Education Benefits at UNO?
You will need to notify both UNO and the VA of your intent to use benefits at UNO.
Notify UNO
The VA Agreement notifies UNO of your military-connected status and which benefit you are eligible for and plan to use to while attending UNO. You always have the option of opting in or out of benefits for each semester. Click here to complete the VA Agreement.
Notify VA
If you plan to use a VA Education Benefit at UNO, be sure to contact the VA and let them know of your intent. You can Apply For or Manage Your VA Benefits online at www.va.gov. You will need to notify the VA and complete a new form if one of the below is true. You are a:
- *First Time Benefit User
- *Transfer Student
Submit your Transcripts
If you have taken courses at a previous college or university, make sure to submit all prior transcripts to the registrar's office. For active duty or veteran students, make sure to also submit your military transcripts.
Notification of Intent (NOI)
The Notification of Intent is how you will let UNO's Financial Support and Scholarship office know each semester whether or not you would like to use your military education benefits for that semester.
A link should autopopulate on your MavLINK page under My Important Messages before each semester requesting you to let the university know your preference for that semester. Don't see the link or can't remember if you did it?
Click here as a secondary way to submit your NOI for the semester.
Complete the FAFSA
Before each year of college, apply for federal grants, work-study, and loans with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form. It is possible to stack different forms of financial aid with military benefits so apply early. Remember to add UNO's School Code to your FAFSA: 002554
Complete the FAFSA
Apply for Scholarships
Fill out the General Scholarship Application via your MavLINK page.

Residency
Did you know you may be charged out-of-state tuition if you did not graduate from a Nebraska high school? Make sure to check whether you are considered an in-state or out-of-state resident for tuition purposes. This determines how much you will be charged in tuition each semester.
According to the University of Nebraska, a student automatically receives in-state tuition rates only if they have graduated from a Nebraska high school. Click here for more information on residency for tuition purposes, and how you can apply to receive the in-state tuition rates.
Parking
Take a look at the different types of parking permits and determine what is the best fit for you. The passes are sold per semester, or for the whole year. Click here for information on parking permits.
