The Digital Learning team has developed an asynchronous training course that supports faculty in meeting standards outlined in UNO’s Online Course Design rubric and scaffolds the online course development process.

Faculty considering and/or leading course development for their department benefit from completing this introductory course to ensure competency in effective practices in online learning.

Foundations of Teaching Online:

  • Designed to help faculty begin the development of their own online course and introduce effective practices in online teaching and learning.
  • Assists faculty in completing: Course Learning Objectives, Learning Activities, a Syllabus, Course Expectations and Schedule, creating an Instructor/Course Introduction, and one module of content (including objectives, interaction, activities, and assessment) by the end of the course.
  • Includes scheduled, one-on-one consultations with an instructional designer to review and discuss activities they have completed. Consultations provide faculty the opportunity to ask questions and design solutions specific to their subject matter and discipline.
