Digital Learning Workout Summer 2018
Pump Up Your Courses with Digital Learning Workouts!
This summer the UNO Digital Learning Team will be offering 9 different 5-day Digital Learning Workouts. Each session is completely online and only takes about 20 minutes per day of your time. Sign up for one, sign up for them all. No matter how much you do you’ll come back to campus in the fall with a more sleek and toned digital physique, ready to take on the fall semester!

Workout session descriptions

Goodies - Free is fabulous, why not add some fabulous free things to your Canvas course? We’ll work with five different goodies that will add a little educational pizazz regardless of what you teach.
Tech Tools - Join in the fun for an introduction to five tools that integrate into Canvas to make your bag of tricks even better.
Presence - Ever wondered why some online classes are amazing while others aren’t so much? During this power-packed workout we’ll talk about Presence, how to make sure you’re doing it, and some specific examples of how to have it at all stages of your semester.

Visual Powerhouse - A picture is worth a thousand words. Take your course(s) to the next level with Visual Powerhouse! In this workout we will cover the basics of incorporating images into your Canvas courses including uploading, embedding, file types, and matching images to content. Additionally, you will learn about designing a course homepage using banners, buttons, and more.
All About Assessment - Want to “Jazzercize” your assessments? Get the right moves with this assessment workout! (Dumbbells optional). In this workout session we will cover using quizzes, types of quizzes, and quiz building basics. Building and integrating rubrics with applied outcomes will also be covered.
Accessibility - There’s no question that having accessible content is of huge importance in online learning; so let’s talk accessibility! In this workout we will cover proper text formatting, video close-captioning, color contrast, accessible images and adding accommodations to quizzes.

Ilos Video - If a picture is worth a thousand words then surely a video must be worth millions. Step up for a five day crash course on using ilos to create and deliver videos within Canvas.
Maintaining the Integrity of Online Assessments - How do you prevent cheating in an online world? While there is no one perfect solution, this workout will focus on tools and strategies for ensuring the integrity of online assessments.
Mobile - Students are using mobile devices to access your courses whether you like it or not. Why not create content that works well in a browser, or on a phone? Get out your phone to spend 5 days learning about creating content for a mobile world, and how you can go mobile too in managing your courses in Canvas.
