Timeline for Storage Transition
- Campus communications began June 2020 and will continue through completion of migration
- Box accounts will no longer be automatically created for new users after Fall 2020
- Box Accounts can be requested as needed by filling out this Box Request Form
- Starting Spring 2021 ITS will be communicating timelines for specific groups
- Users can request to move early by filling out this Microsoft opt-in form.

Departments are encouraged to work with their College/Department Technology Support to identify a migration date for Spring 2021.
- No new data uploaded to Box after May 16th, 2021
- Box will be decommissioned on December 31, 2021
- Starting January 2022, Microsoft’s suite of OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams will be the university’s preferred general-purpose storage and collaboration tool.

Secure Online Storage Options
Though ITS is moving to Microsoft as its primary storage solution, not every type of data should be stored in Microsoft Data Storage. For more information about where data should be stored please check out our data storage page
Google Drive
UNO uses Google Apps for Education for the student email system, gmav, but there is also faculty and staff accounts set up so that everyone can use Google Apps. Google Apps is a suite of cloud-based tools that allows you to create and store documents, collaborate, and synchronize files across devices. Google also offers a full suite of office tools such as docs, spreadsheets, and presentations.
