Information for Staff
- UNO is requiring everyone to wear a mask if they are on campus. Don't have a mask? All staff should have received two (2) complementary Maverick face masks in their mail boxes this summer. Staff can order additional masks and other protective materials through eShop.
- On-campus events and meeting are available to take place following specific guidelines and approvals. Before scheduling your event, please make sure it has gone through the proper approval process.
- The 1-Check UNO app is a tool to help keep you - and others - safe. Make sure you download the mobile version and bookmark the web platform to screen for COVID symptoms before coming to campus.
We are committed to providing the exceptional educational experience our students have come to know, whether they are returning to campus or studying remotely.
Here are some quick highlights for you to know:
As a reminder, it is official campus policy that you wear a face covering (mask or shield) while on campus.
Two “Maverick Strong” reusable face masks have been provided to all UNO faculty. Reusable masks should be put on, taken off, and cleaned in accordance with CDC guidelines. Watch a demonstration of how to properly handle a reusable mask, and more sanitization guidance with our "Protect Yourself, Protect Others" video module.
Check your mailbox or with your office manager to collect your masks. Most face masks for staff were delivered to department mailboxes across campus in late June.
New staff members will receive their masks along with their MavCARD, while supplies last.
If you are a staff member who needs a mask and has not received masks, are missing masks, or have any other questions related to the UNO-branded mask, please email email@example.com.
Please be sure to include the following information in your email:
- Room Number
- Name of Individual(s)
- Role of Individual(s) (ex: employee, student worker, adjunct faculty, student, etc.)
UNO has implemented enhanced cleaning and disinfecting measures for workspaces, labs and common areas.
While UNO Environmental Services have worked hard to accomplish such enhanced disinfection, students, staff and faculty are expected to assist in the cleaning of their personal spaces.
If appropriate means of cleaning are not available, we ask that you contact Environmental Services. As policies are revised, training continues to be conducted and additional measures will be established to ensure proper cleaning and disinfection is taking place across the UNO campus.
Hand sanitizer stations are located across campus. These freestanding sanitizer stations are commonly located near building entrances and exits. Disinfecting wipes will be provided for classrooms and labs this fall.
UNO Custodial Services will refill these freestanding sanitizer stations and replace disinfecting wipes in classrooms as needed. Departments and units are responsible for ordering supplies through eSHOP for their areas.
If you purchase your own hand sanitizer, the CDC recommends checking the product label to make sure it contains at least 60% alcohol.
Ordering Additional Supplies
To order now, please visit eSHOP and use the form titled "COVID-19 Supplies Order Form." The goal is to fulfill orders as soon as possible.
Due to high demand, there may be a delay in order fulfillment.
To plan for the semester, please use the "COVID-19 Fall Planning Form" in eSHOP to estimate future campus departmental needs. This will help maintain inventory.
Print signage materials are available for the campus to print and display as needed. These materials include reminders on social distancing best practices, handwashing, cleaning and disinfecting areas such as lab spaces, and more.
Signage provided will be updated as public health guidance and campus needs evolve.
Print signage can be printed on standard 8.5x11” paper (preferably in color for legibility).
Additional signage needs that can’t be printed in-house, such as floor and window decals, can be ordered through UNMC Printing Services.
It is recommended that orders be placed at least two weeks in advance, though turnaround times can vary based on materials.
As Chancellor Gold has stated in his communications to campus, the personal safety of every member of the Maverick community is UNO's top priority. While it is certainly true for personal health, it is also true for each of our eight dimensions of wellness.
The University and its health insurers have taken actions to assist UNO employees and their families during this time. Some of these changes include mental health support, waives of home delivery charges for medications, and no costs charged for COVID-19 tests. Please contact UMR (1.844.659.5059) or CVS (888.202.1654) to assist with any specific questions or concerns you may have.
Working From Home
Employees who need or prefer to work in a remote setting are able to continue to do so, after discussion with their unit leaders and supervisor. A remote work arrangement is an option that allows an employee to work at home or another alternative off-site location, for a specified number of hours per week, month, etc. For more information visit the UNO Human Resources website.
Faculty Employee Assistance Program
UNO has contracted with Best Care Employee Assistance Program to provide confidential counseling and referral services to benefit-eligble Faculty and Staff and their eligible dependents. The program provides five (5) counseling sessions for you and your eligible dependent family members. Please note: you do not need a referral from a manager or supervisor to use these services. Contact Best Care at 1.800.801.4182 or eap@bestcareEAP.org.
UNO Emergency Loan Fund
The University of Nebraska at Omaha recognizes that some employees may be experiencing financial difficulty during this time. We want to make sure that staff and faculty are aware of an additional option for assistance in the form of the UNO Emergency Loan Fund.
This fund is available only to UNO employees and is a 0% interest loan to be paid back through payroll deductions over the course of one year or less. Employees can apply for this assistance using this form.
Unlike the University of Nebraska Emergency Assistance Fund, this is available to employees at any time.
