Inclusive Communities has selected the Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center to receive the Otto Swanson Partner of the Year Award at the annual Inclusive Communities’ Humanitarian Brunch on Sunday, April 7. Held at the Scott Conference Center, the event provides an opportunity to recognize special individuals and organizations with awards for service and commitment to making our community a better and more inclusive place for everyone.
“The Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center (CEC) at the University of Nebraska Omaha is a one-of-a-kind place designed to facilitate collaboration among nonprofits, community groups, and the university. Inclusive Communities is proud to be one of 29 nonprofits housed in the CEC. The resources provided by the CEC allow for networking, connection, and resource sharing among nonprofits. This partnership has opened doors for countless opportunities for Inclusive Communities to partner with other organizations to promote inclusivity and broaden its reach into the Greater Omaha community.” says Inclusive Communities.
Inclusive Communities works to confront biases by creating opportunities for one-on-one interactions and meaningful conversations among individuals of all ages and backgrounds. The Otto Swanson Partner of the Year Award is one of three awards presented at the Humanitarian Brunch. The 2019 Humanitarian Brunch will celebrate the culmination of Inclusive Communities’ 80th year, and highlight their programs and services as they adapt to meet today’s needs.
“Inclusive Communities has a long history of creating opportunities for people to come together, make personal connections, and realize one another’s similarities while appreciating their differences,” said Mart Sedky, Event Co-Chair. “My husband, Sherif, and I are proud to support this worthy organization, and to honor those who have made invaluable contributions to its mission.”
The Humanitarian Brunch begins with a Hosted Brunch Happy Hour between Noon and 1 P.M., followed by the Brunch and Program between 1 P.M. and 2:15 P.M. Tickets are $100 per person, $65 of which is tax deductible. Seating is limited.
