The courses, taken sequentially, are expected to facilitate learning experiences which are appropriate to the student's educational level and needs, and supportive of classroom learning.
The Generalist Practicum (BSSW and MSW Foundation) emphasizes the knowledge and processes basic to all social work interventions, introduces the student to various models designed to effect change in social systems and specific social problems, and provides and opportunity for integration of research, knowledge and skills.
The Advanced Practicum (Clinical, Advanced Generalist and Dual Degree) provides students with a mix of direct clinical services with individuals, families and small groups and indirect services including supervision, administrative activities, research, advocacy and community organizing. The student's concentration will dictate the focus of learning experiences in the practicum setting.
