Biography

Lisa Smith earned her PhD and MSSW from the University of Louisville, Kent School of Social Work. Dr. Smith's research interests include oncology social work practice, healthcare policy and health inequities; Social Determinants of Health; patient-centered care and patient-physician decision making.

Teaching Interests

Currently Dr. Smith teaches a variety of undergraduate coursework including: Research Methods, Civic Engagement, Medical Social Work and Writing for Social Work. In the past, Dr. Smith has taught courses in Human Behavior and Psycho-social Oncology Social Work,.

Service Summary

Dr. Smith is the Student Social Work Organization (SSWO) Faculty Advisor. She also volunteers with the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network in Nebraska and New York, and the Nebraska Cancer Coalition.Faculty Affiliate: Medical Humanities, and STEPS
