Comparative Gerontology/Global Aging
In their new course, Comparative Gerontology/Global Aging, Dr. Lyn Holley from UNO and Dr. Grzegorc Żurek and Dr. Alina Żurek from the University of Wroclaw, Poland, guide upper division and graduate students in the study of aging around the world, using a comparative method in a cross-cultural and cross-national framework.
Students from both the United States and Poland attend the class together – connected through an internet program that allows them to see and hear each other. The students work together in multinational pairs to conduct comparative analysis of issues dealing with aging.
GERO 4480/GERO 8486, Comparative Gerontology course is a 3 credit course.

Dr. Grzegorz Żurek is the Head of the Neurocognitive Department of the Academy of Physical Education at the University of Wroclaw, Poland.
Dr. Alina Żurek is an Associate Professor in the Institute of Psychology in the University of Wroclaw, Poland
Dr. Lyn Holley is the Dr. Chuck Powell Professor in the UNO Department of Gerontology and Principal Investigator of the University of Nebraska Global Curriculum Development grant that helped to fund development of the course.
Dr. Chris Kelly, the Leo Missinne Professor of Gerontology in the UNO Department of Gerontology is Co-Principal Investigator of the Grant and a co-founder of the course.
