MOEC's longest running program, evolving to meet the needs of consortium members since 1988.
The Mentor Project provides experienced teachers with a two-day workshop that hones their talents and expertise to become mentor teachers. The workshop provides teachers with opportunities to expand their knowledge and skills utilizing a network of national and regional resources in the areas of teacher induction, collaboration, and coaching.
The goal of the Mentor Project is to positively impact both newly certified and experienced teachers to establish a strong network of support for thousands of first-year teachers in the metropolitan area.
Many school districts have already incorporated the Mentor Project into their new teacher induction effort and since the MOEC includes the UNO College of Education, the project provides a vital link between pre-service teacher preparation programs and staff development efforts for participating districts.
