Message from the Chair
Welcome to the UNO Department of Counseling
Thank you for visiting the UNO Counseling Department website. We are the only counseling department or program in Nebraska offering CACREP (Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs) accredited master’s degrees (MS/MA) in clinical mental health counseling (CMHC) and school counseling (SC)with a PK-12 school endorsement. We also offer a master’s degree (MS/MA) in Student Affairs in Higher Education (SAHE) for individuals interested in higher education careers. No matter which program best fits your interests and career goals, our quality programs and demanding curriculum will challenge you to grow personally and professionally.
Our experienced and dedicated faculty of counselor educators, licensed mental health practitioners, and student affairs professionals lead students through rigorous core and specialization curriculums and field placements that produce knowledgeable, skilled, and culturally-sensitive reflective practitioners. Our faculty are also active scholars and members of several professional organizations who seek out and welcome collaboration with students, community members and organizations, and colleagues across all mental health and allied disciplines.
We would welcome an opportunity to discuss our programs with you and invite you to call or stop in for more information. We are located on the first floor of Roskens Hall—or you can email me directly at dkissinger@unomaha.edu.
