Kari A. Simonsen, MD is Assistant Vice Chancellor for Faculty Affairs at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). She is also Chief of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Professor and Vice Chair of Pediatrics at UNMC, and serves the community as the Medical Advisor to the Douglas County Health Department. A native of Omaha, Dr. Simonsen received her undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and her medical degree from UNMC. After completing pediatric residency at Indiana University, she pursued fellowship training in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Brown University. Dr. Simonsen is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Infectious Diseases Society of America, and the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society, and a member of the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America.
