Summer Health Professions Education Program
The Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) is a free six-week summer enrichment program focused on improving access to information and resources for college freshmen and sophomores interested in the health professions. Hosted at 12 academic sites across the nation, the program aims to strengthen the academic proficiency and career development of students underrepresented in the health professions and prepare them for successful application and matriculation to health professions schools.
Application Opens: Nov. 1
Application Deadline: Feb. 5
Help Build a Culture of Health – The Summer Health Professions Education Program is working toward building a Culture of Health (www.cultureofhealth.org) that will enable all to live longer, healthier lives now and in generations to come. The SHPEP pre-health scholars are inspired to become tomorrow’s change leaders in their local communities and throughout the nation.
Who is eligible?
Eligible students include underrepresented undergraduate, including community college students, who have completed fewer than 60 academic credit hours toward their program of study at the time they submit their application. Eligible students are encouraged to apply to up to 3 of our 12 sites and may choose to explore 3 different health professions at each of the chosen sites.

When is the program offered?

What costs are covered by the program?
