Every semester, we offer multiple language courses that incorporate service-learning. Through service-learning, students meet academic objectives while performing meaningful community service.

In 2016, the Foreign Languages and Literature (FLL) department was awarded the University-wide Departmental Teaching Award (UDTA). The UDTA is the most prestigious honor for departmental excellence in teaching in the University of Nebraska system.

Join a club or student organization to get more involved, or attend some of the many events hosted by the department including open houses, the Language for the Professions Series, and other class events.

The Foreign Languages and Literature (FLL) department offers study abroad programs that allow students to explore the world while strengthening their linguistic competence in the language of their concentration.

Why should you study another language? Our Foreign Languages majors will help you become a more globally engaged and cross-culturally aware citizen.

In addition to the Master of Arts in Language Teaching program, we offer Graduate Certificates in Spanish, French, and Teaching Spanish to Heritage/Bilingual Learners.
