Tell us a little about yourself:
My name is Sapphire Andersen and I am proud to have called Omaha home for the past four years. I love doing community service work so, along with volunteering for some great organizations in the metro area, I am always on the lookout for new activities and causes to get involved. You can usually find me using some of UNO’s awesome spaces on campus to read or study.
What is your favorite thing about UNO?
The thing that I appreciate most about UNO is its engagement in the community. UNO has such a positive, influential presence in the Omaha area and the university really capitalizes on those community partnerships in the best possible way by providing opportunities for students. Whether its internships, jobs, or volunteer opportunities in Omaha, the perfect way to get connected is through UNO. The university’s commitment to their students and their community is something that I find truly special.
What do you like to do most in Omaha?
Some of my favorite places in Omaha are downtown. I enjoy taking advantage of the free admission to the Joslyn Art Museum, spending an afternoon at Lauritzen Gardens, or catching a weekend show at the Orpheum Theater.
What piece of advice do you offer to students going through the college search process?
Ask questions! You will have plenty of resources available and a stellar support system during your college search process, but do not hesitate to ask for help when you need it. In fact, that is exactly what your Admissions Representative is here for. There are moments when the college search might be confusing or overwhelming, so we are always eager to listen and to help.
