Lina Traslaviña Stover
High SchoolDushin Academy in Columbia
Lina Translaviña Stover is a Maverick in every sense of the word. The director of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions is passionate about higher education, and UNO’s mission to remove barriers and make education accessible makes her excited to come and work for students each and every day. She’s here to serve and to make sure that students know that UNO is a place they can call home. “At UNO, there is a place for everyone. When we say we are a metropolitan campus and we are inclusive, we’re not just saying pretty words. This is who we are,” she says.
She loves what UNO has to offer students. Lina believes strongly in the value of the many service learning opportunities provided on campus. Students here are engaged with the community in meaningful ways, and these classroom experiences translate to real-world skills and passions.
Lina originally came to UNO as a master’s student, and she pursued her degree in urban studies. Whether it was as a student or as a staff/faculty member, she’s had an amazing UNO experience. “I think graduating was an awesome experience. I had my brother and my now-husband with me at the time. I felt I had a community with me in my master’s program, and I was able to discover some of my passions of working for the community.”
The passion she learned here as a student has translated well into her current role as director. “Seeing students that I work with in one way or another is so much fun. I helped them get to college, and look at them now! They are a professional!”
