John Bartle, Ph.D.
- Dean of the College of Public Affairs and Community Service
John Bartle is the dean of the College of Public Affairs and Community Service (CPACS). Prior to being named dean in 2011, Bartle was the director of the School of Public Administration, and has been a professor at UNO since 1994.
Bartle holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, Master of Public Administration from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Management from Ohio State University. He also has an honorary doctorate of Humane Letters from the State University of New York at Binghamton.
Interests & Research
His teaching interests include public financial management, public budgeting, public sector economics, and public policy analysis and evaluation.
His research focuses on public financial policy and management, budgeting, transportation, and state and local government. He is currently involved in research on sustainability in transportation, public financial management, and tax policy.
