The Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees with a Major in Political Science are offered by the department of political science. Both degree programs are flexible and are designed to meet a wide variety of student needs and interests. A student may wish to concentrate in a specific subfield of political science or take as diverse a range of courses as possible. Whatever the case, each student's program must be carefully planned with a departmental adviser to meet his/her needs and interests.
Bachelor of Science
Minimum Hours:
36 semester Hours in Political Science
Subfield Requirements: One course from each
of the following: American Politics, Comparative Politics, International Politics, Political Theory.
Upper Division Hours: At least 18 hours of Political Science courses at the 3000 or 4000 levels.
Cognate Hours: 15 semester hours from cognate courses. These hours must include 3 hours of statistics approved by the departmental advisors
Bachelor of Arts
Minimum Hours:
27 semester Hours in Political Science
Subfield Requirements: One course from each of the following: American Politics, Comparative Politics, International Politics, Political Theory.
Upper Division Hours: At least 18 hours of Political Science courses at the 3000 or 4000 levels.
Cognate Hours: 12 semester hours from cognate fields chosen in consultation with department advisor.
Other Requirements: Satisfaction of the foreign language requirement of the College of Arts and Sciences.
Minor in Political Science
An undergraduate minor in political science may be secured by completing 18 hours of political science, 12 of which must be at the 3000 to 4000 level. All of these courses must be completed with a grade of "C-" or better.
