The M.S. in Political Science is an "18/18" program that offers a broad foundation in Political Science.  Students take seminars in American politics, global politics, political theory, and research methods.  The program offers thesis and non-thesis options.  Either generally takes two-years to complete.  Students may be admitted for the Fall or Spring semesters. Once admitted they become part of a cohort that take required seminars together on Monday evenings at 6:00 p.m.

The 18/18 program offers the maximum possible flexibility for students to tailor an area of specialization.  Our program encourages students to create a program of study that pursues interests in other disciplines such as communications, criminal justice, economics, geography, history, public administration, social work, sociology, teacher education, and urban studies.  Students may even mold programs of study to thematic interests such as democracy, diversity, globalization, homeland security, or informational organization by selecting elective classes with similar themes from different disciplines.

Dr. Randall Adkins is the Graduate Program Chair.
