NASA Marshall Space Flight Center Space Grant Research Internship

Program Details:

  • Ten-week summer internship that provides mentored research experiences to undergraduate and graduate students
  • Last summer, MSFC hosted 18 interns, providing them hands-on experiences in various project offices, labs, and test facilities – from Engineering to Safety to Shuttle Propulsion, to Science and Mission Systems
  • Program dates: June 2, 2008 through August 8, 2008.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Full-time Graduate or Undergraduate student
  • Students must be U.S. citizens
  • There is no minimum GPA; however, students must be nominated by the Nebraska Space Grant and receive funding support from Nebraska Space Grant.

Application Deadline and Details:

  • Summer 2008 Deadline: February 22, 2008

    • Cover letter (should address the student’s skills and why the student chose to apply for this internship opportunity),
    • Resume,
    • Current transcripts (may be unofficial), and
    • Letter of recommendation

  • Selections and notifications are expected no later than April 1.

Selection Process:

  • Applications will be reviewed by the NASA Nebraska Space Grant and will forward the most qualified applicants to Marshall Space Flight Center. Marshall Space Flight Center personnel will make the final selections.

 

Langley Aerospace Research Summer Scholars (LARSS) Program

Program Details:

  • Fifteen-week fall & spring internships that provide hands-on paid research experiences for qualified undergraduate (rising juniors and above) and graduate students on-site at NASA Langley Research Center.  

Applicant Requirements:

  • US Citizenship
  • Full-time college student, rising junior and above by the start of the program
  • Pursuing a discipline of interest to NASA
  • 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale

Application Deadline and Details:

  • 2008 Fall Session – March 7
  • 2009 Spring Session – October 24
