UNO Space Shuttle Simulator

Nebraska Astronaut to fly on NASA Mission STS-117

NASA Mission STS-118

The Teacher Education Department of the College of Education at the University of Nebraska at Omaha built a space shuttle simulator in Kayser hall on the UNO campus. The shuttle is designed to help teachers integrate space studies into their curriculum. Students from Nebraska also enjoy visiting the simulator.

Teacher Training & Resources

NASA Nebraska Space Grant actively engages in on-going training opportunities to enhance their skills. NASA's Office of Education and Space Grant are placing an emphasis on teacher training as a way to impact the next generation of explorers. Examples of past teacher training activities sponsored by NASA Nebraska Space Grant include training in aeronautics, geospatial technologies, and space science.

UNO Aerospace Education Workshop
This is a UNO graduate course offered in the summer to assist teachers in incorporating aviation and space into their classroom lessons. Tours, guest speakers, and lesson planning are all conducted in class. See the UNO Summer Course Schedule for class times.

NASA Nebraska Educator Resource Center
Through the use of the NASA Teacher Resource Center on the UNO Campus, educators throughout the state have access to the educational materials from NASA to implement in their classroom. Podcasting Website Goes Live!
NASA has a new education podcast series for high school and college students interested in participating in NASA learning opportunities. NASA Student Opportunities is a weekly audio podcast that features interviews with students who have received NASA internships, fellowships or scholarships. Students share their experiences and offer suggestions for students who are interested in pursuing NASA learning opportunities. The podcasts also provide information about upcoming learning opportunities and application deadlines.
