Mission Statement:

Our mission is to bring awareness and a clear understanding of Islam, to the community and the students of UNO, in particular.

Purposes:


To provide resourceful information to Muslim and non-Muslim students.
To work with campus organizations to increase Islamic cultural and religious awareness.
To help Muslim students in adjusting to life in the US.

Activities

Bringing all the members and guest members to three to four planned activities a semester.

Bake sales to promote the organization and raise funds for the community.
Fund-raising and special events in natural disaster and war related cases.
Islamic awareness week, an opportunity to promote Islamic knowledge and value by bringing guest speakers, Islamic movies and documentaries.

Social Activities:


We try get students involved with the local community and with different
planned activities.



 

Cultural Activities:

Eid days
Eid Al-Fitr, or the Celebration of Breaking the Fast which marks the end of Ramadan.The first three days of Shawal are the Eid days.
Eid-ul-Adha or the Festival of Sacrifice is celebrated throughout the Muslim world as a commemoration of Prophet Ibrahim's (PBUH) willingness to sacrifice his son for God. Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated on the tenth day of the month of Zul-Hijja.

Community Service:

With about two thousand Muslims in this community, we try to stay involved by participating in both educational and social activities. These include:
Sunday School Teaching at Islamic Center of Omaha.
Volunteering for events sponsored by the Islamic Speakers Bureau of Nebraska.

Assistance to new students:

In order to assist new international students and particularly Muslim Students to adjust into the new environment; our organization can also provide the
following services:

Pick up airport
Give them transportation to various places such as a ride to the social security office or to the bank, grocery store.
