Dr. Simmons has a B.A. from Kearney State College, an M.A. from the University of Omaha (now UNO), and a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota.  His recent publications include Operation Abolition (1987), the Dame in the Kimono (1990, 2nd ed. 2001), and assorted articles on film censorship and constitutional history.

When not pursuing academics, he enjoys gardening, golf, and motion pictures.
