Commercial Videotape Critique

HED 8250

The critique of a commercial videotape about human sexuality must be typed and double spaced and be three to five pages in length. The minimum duration of the video must be one hour (i.e., a one hour video, two half hour videos or three 20 minute videos).

Use the following guidelines to write your paper:

1) What is the target audience for this video?

 

2) Is the information accurate, appropriate, appealing, interesting, and

informative? Explain.

 

3) Is the video technically well done? Are the visuals appealing and varied? Is the

sound and/or music interesting and appropriate? Is the acting, animation , special effects

or graphics well done?

 

4) Does the video include a diverse population or is it specialized or biased?

 

5) Is the video readily available? At what cost?

 

6) What are the major strengths and weakness of the video? Would you recommend

this video to others? Why and under what circumstances?

 

7) What were the major points or elements of the video? Did you learn anything

from it? If so, what? If not, why not?

 

8) Is video the best medium for conveying the message?

 

9) Have you checked your paper's organization, spelling and grammar? Do you

have strong opening and closing statements or paragraphs? Have you used

smooth transitions?
