Selection Process
In order to be considered for selection, candidates must first be nominated by a UNO faculty/staff member, Avenue Scholars staff member, K-12 school faculty/staff member, or a community partner/organization staff member. Along with the required nomination form, candidates must submit an essay that outlines their background and educational goals. Click HERE to access the nomination form and essay information.
UNO Young Scholars Nomination Form and Essay Information
The strongest consideration will be given to candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Demonstrated financial need but are not eligible for Pell Grant funding
- First-generation college student
- Graduate of Omaha metro area high schools
