Policy U-1 Authorized Users of the HPER Building
- The HPER Building may be used for recreational purposes by any currently enrolled UNO student who has paid appropriate UPF Fees or a person who is a holder of a properly validated Campus Recreation activity card. The person must present valid I.D. card upon entering the building. Any person not having proper I.D. will be denied recreational access to the building. Any UNO student ID or Campus Recreation activity cards not belonging to the holder of the card will be confiscated.
- A student may purchase an activity card for his/her spouse and any dependent children, 18 - 22 years of age.
- A UNO faculty or staff member may purchase an activity card. After purchasing an activity card, a UNO faculty or staff member may purchase a card for his/her spouse and any dependent children 18 - 22 years of age.
- A student, faculty or staff of UNMC may purchase an activity card. After purchasing an activity card, the UNMC activity card holder may purchase a card for his/her spouse.
- A student taking off campus classes for credit may purchase a Campus Recreation activity card for the same rate charged for a UNMC activity card.
- A member of the UNO Alumni Association may purchase an activity card. After purchasing an activity card, an alumni cardholder may purchase a card for his/her spouse. Alumni, in the first year after graduation, may purchase an activity card for $125. After purchasing a card an alumni cardholder may purchase a card for his/her spouse.
- A Regent of the University of Nebraska, and retired UNO faculty or staff may purchase an activity card. The individual cardholder may then purchase an activity card for his/her spouse or any dependent children, 18 - 22 years of age.
- A UNO student enrolled during the previous Spring semester, but not during the Summer session, may purchase an activity card for the Summer.
- A UNL or UNK student enrolled at his/her institution during the Spring semester, but not during the Summer session, may purchase an activity card for summer use of the HPER Building at UNO. The fee for the purchase of this card will be the current UNMC rate. Holiday and spring break passes are also available to UNL & UNK students.
Policy U-2 Use of HPER Building by Children
- A Child, under the age of 18, sponsored by a UNO student or Campus Recreation activity card holder may use the HPER building during designated hours and may participate in specially designated children's programs. The following rules apply:
- A child must be accompanied by the sponsor at all times. A child 16 years of age or older may participate in a different part of the building than their sponsor, but the sponsor must remain in the building.
- UNO students and activity card holders may sponsor their own children and up to TWO additional children.
- Prior to participation, a parent must sign in the child at the Campus Recreation office. A sponsored child 16 years old and older may use the weight rooms and/or running track.
- A child may not be left unattended in the hallway outside of the racquetball courts, weight rooms, jogging track, pool, activity courts, or lounge.
- To enroll in children's programs the parent must be a current UNO student or must hold a valid Campus Recreation activity card. The parent does not have to accompany the child to the activity; however, an adult sponsor does not have to stay with the child during class but must remain in the building until class has ended.
- Summer camp participants are excluded from this policy while participating in camp activities.
Policy U-3 Guest Policy
- A current UNO student or Campus Recreation activity card holder may sponsor up to two (2) guests per visit to the HPER building during scheduled guest hours. A spouse guest may be sponsored at any time.
- The sponsor must sign in the guest(s). A guest must be 18 years of age and older.
- The fees are charged for each guest.
- The sponsor is responsible for the actions of the guest(s).
- The sponsor must be in the building with the guest(s) at all times.
- Proof of age identification may be requested of guests.
Policy U-4 Spectators
- Spectators are allowed to enter the facility free of charge to observe participants in scheduled/fee based/non-academic instructional programs.
- A spectator may not participate in any activity during his/her visit.
- A child may be a spectator only if accompanied by a non-participating adult and supervised by the adult throughout the visit.
- Each spectator must sign in at the Campus Recreation office or the ID desk when the front office is closed.
Policy U-5 Priority of use of the HPER Building Facilities
Priority use of the HPER Building will be as follows:
- School of HPER classes
- Other UNO credit classes
- Campus Recreation programs
- Other UNO sponsored programs
- Activities by agencies outside of UNO approved by the Director of Campus Recreation.
Policy U-6 Summer Camp Activity Court Use
Activity Court II may be available for use by summer camps.
- Requests for use must be submitted by May 1 of the year requested. Requests may be submitted as much as one year in advance. Advance requests will be given temporary approval, pending academic and maintenance scheduling.
- Academic classes scheduled in the activity court will take precedence.
- Both Activity Court I and Activity Court II will not be scheduled for use by camps at the same time. Activity Court I is available for camp use on weekends and Activity Court II is available for use week days whenever possible.
- Final approval of individual requests will rest with the Director of Campus Recreation.
Policy U-7 HPER Building Rules
The following rules will be enforced within the HPER Building for the safety and enjoyment of all participants.
- Food and drink will be allowed only in the lounge (Room 101) and offices (Suites 100, 207, 113A, 119B, 219A, 219C, and 219D) with the exception of closed water bottles.
- All promotional material from campus organizations outside of the School of HPER may be posted in the HPER Building.
- All promotional material must be approved for posting by the Campus Recreation Office and Student Activities Office.
- All promotional material may only be posted on the bulletin boards.
- Campus Recreation retains the right to limit the number, location, and duration of the posting.
- The east tunnel leading to the Field House is locked at all times.
- To check out a key from the Campus Recreation office, an individual must have written authorization from the appropriate room coordinator.
- Lockers are available for use by all Campus Recreation participants.
- Long term use lockers, including towel service, are available for a fee to all UNO students and activity card holders. A security deposit is required.
- Locker sizes are: cube size, half size and full size.
- Coin operated lockers are available for day use.
- Transfer lockers are available at no charge. The participant provides his/her own lock. Clothing, equipment and other articles must be removed daily.
- Racquetball/handball and squash courts may be reserved.
- Each person may reserve a court for one, half hour period per day.
- Maximum reservation for three or more players will be 1-1/2 hours.
- Reservations may be made in person at Central Issue or by phone 554-3231 on the same day needed.
- Lost articles may be turned in to the Campus Recreation Office (Room 100).
- A participant displaying inappropriate or offensive behavior or language may be asked to leave the facility.
Policy U-8 Refund Policy
Refunds under the amount of fifty ($50) will be handled by a cash refund voucher. Refunds over fifty ($50) dollars will be processed on a warrant request.
- Campus Recreation may provide a partial refund for an activity card returned within four weeks of the date of sale.
- Campus Recreation may provide a partial refund for a cancellation from its non-credit instructional programs if the cancellation is within four weeks following the start of the program.
- Refund amounts may be as follows:
- 100% refund 1st week
- 75% refund 2nd week
- 50% refund 3rd week
- 25% refund 4th week
- 0% refund 5th and subsequent week
- A full 100% refund will be given for any program cancelled by Campus Recreation.
Policy U-9 Sport Club Participation
- Participation in Sport Clubs sponsored by Campus Recreation is open to any currently enrolled UNO student who pay UPF fees or any current Campus Recreation activity card holder.
Policy U-10 Use of Aquatic Center by Outside Agencies
- Use of the aquatic center by outside agencies will be considered on an individual basis once a request is presented to the Assistant Director of Aquatics in writing. When at all possible open recreation hours, even shortened, will be maintained.
