General Public Entrance Policies
*All general public users MUST stop in HPER 100, register as a guest, get their hand stamped, pay Guest Fees of $5.25 per person, and bring the receipt to the climbing wall to show the wall supervisor. General public users (18 and older) may use the climbing wall starting at noon Monday thru Friday. Climbers 17 and younger are only allowed in the HPER building Friday (starting at noon), Saturday, and Sunday. General Public access to the climbing wall is a privilege, please follow the entrance policies.

CLASSES AND EVENTS:
Climbing Wall Belay Course
Walk-in belay classes are available, but are dependent on staff availability; call ahead (554-3342).
This course allows the climber
access to the roped climbing wall. It occurs in two parts, with a class on the first day and a skills test on a later day. All roped climbers must take this class, NO ONE will be allowed to top rope climb or belay without this course. You must be at least 14 years old to belay. Climbers 5 - 13 years old must take the Youth climbing course with an adult belayer. The belay course can be challenged.
Belay Course Cost: $7.50 UNO / $10 GP
Belay Skill Challenge: $3/25 UNO/$8 GP

Regulations and Policies
Failure to comply with these Regulations and Policies may result in the loss of use privileges.
1. You must be a UNO Student, Campus Recreation cardholder, or registered guest to climb.
2. No backpacks or gym bags in the climbing area.
3. No open beverage containers or food allowed in the gym. Closed containers of water are permitted.
4. No UNO/OVC rental equipment may leave HPER Room 110.
5. No climbing shoes in the hallway.
6. No barefoot climbing on the boulder or the wall.
7. The use of loose chalk is not permitted. Chalk balls are required.
8. All climbing equipment must be UIAA certified. The climbing wall staff can deny the use of any questionable equipment.
9. Allow right of way to other climbers who were first on route on any given section of the wall or boulder. Don't crowd other climbers.
10. Be cautious of climber fall zones when in the climbing area. Remember climbers may drop something, or swing or roll when falling.
11. Bouldering Rules: Only hands can top out of the boulder. No bouldering above the first set of bolts on the climbing wall. It is highly recommended to use a spotter and crash pads when bouldering.
12. Roped Climbing Rules: All robed climbers must show appropriate I.D. and certification cards before climbing. All climbers must wear their certification cards on the back of their harnesses's when climbing. Both climber and belayer must be certified. All belayers must be at least 14 years of age.
13. Helmet Rules: Anyone under 19 years of age must wear a helmet while climbing. Those that are 19 or older who chose not to wear a helmet must sign a Helmet Waiver. IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT ALL CLIMBERS WEAR A HELMET.
14. Lead Climbing Rules: All lead climbers and belayer must pass the Lead Climbing Certification Test before climbing. All lead climbers and belayer must wear a helmet. You must be at least 19 years old to lead climb.
15. Children Rules: All children must be accompanied by a sponsoring adult. This adult is completely responsible for the child's actions and safety. Children must be at least 5 years old to top rope climb. They and their sponsoring adult must complete the Youth Climbing Certification. Children may only climb as high as they are tall when bouldering, and an adult spotter is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
