Summer 2008
In our Youth Swim Lessons your child will participate in the Red Cross Learn-To-Sim program. They will learn the skills needed to improve their swimming ability, from learning how to float to learning the front crawl.
SUMMER SATURDAY SESSIONS:
June 21 - August 16 - Saturdays
Times: 11:00 a.m., 11:35 a.m., or 12:10 p.m.
OR
SUMMER WEEKDAY (Monday - Thursday) SESSIONS:
June 16 - June 26
June 30 - July 10
July 14 - July 24
July 28 - August 7
Times: 9 - 9:30 a.m., 9:35 - 10:05 a.m., 10:10 - 10:40 a.m.
Cost:
$40 for UNO Students and Campus Recreation Card Holders
$45 for General Public
Minimum Age Requirement:
3 Years of age and comfortable in the water without parent or guardian.
Class Descriptions for Swim Lessons
Level One: Helps the student feel comfortable in the water. Students learn how to float, blow bubbles, and put face in the water.
Level Two: Learn the basics of Front and Back Crawl, work on floating and increasing comfort level in the water.
Level Three: Must be able to swim Front and Back Crawl without help for 15 ft. Will learn how to dive as well as other strokes.
Level Four: Must be able to swim 15 yds of Front and Back Crawl. Will learn Breastroke, Butterfly, and Elementary Backstroke, as well as working on swimming endurance.
Level Five: Must be able to swim Front and Back Crawl 25 yds as well as Breaststroke and Elementary Backstroke 15 yds. Will continue to focus on stroke development and swimming endurance.
Level Six: Must be able to swim 50 yds of Front and Back Crawl, as well as 25 yds of Breaststroke and Elementary Backstroke. Will continue to focus on stroke development and endurance as well as teach basic lifeguarding skills.
Registration Information:
All registrations must include a parent/guardian participant release.
Classes may be combined to meet class size quota.
Classes may be cancelled due to low enrollment.
Classes may be combined to meet a class size quota.
Class dates may change due to scheduled UNO activities, weather, instructor illness, or University closure.
Class absences that are not due to University schedules may not be made up.
Spectators and non-participants should remain seated away from the pool.
Children must be supervised at all times.
