Small Group Format
Students are assigned to groups of 10-20, with 3-4 students per table. The leader of the group, called a facilitator, has been trained in the methods of group instruction. While working from a summary of the material to be covered, students are guided in an exploration of mathematical ideas and encouraged to verbalize their understandings. Math is presented in a non-threatening environment that involves students actively constructing and applying knowledge.
