ABSTRACT:
Anthropomorphic global warming (AGW) is that due to increased levels of atmospheric greenhouse gases, which result from the industrial activities of humans. AGW is purported to threaten the survival of the human race according to some environmentalists and politicians. In press accounts of the issue, however, very few measurable quantities are reported, such as the average global surface temperature, the rates of change in global temperatures, the proportion that various greenhouse gases contribute to the greenhouse effect, and how current temperatures and their rates of change compare to historic values. This seminar examines these aspects as well as alternative theories as to what causes cyclic changes in global surface temperatures.
