ABSTRACT:
Some open problems and conjectures in probability and statistics will
be discussed. Some of these problems can be discussed with a knowledge
of calculus and simple real analysis only. These include problems from
reliability theory, probability inequalities and generalized power
series distributions. For each problem, some related known results
will also be given. Detailed mathematical proofs/explanations will not
be given so that several different problems can be
considered. However, descriptions of general strategies and future
research possibilities will be discussed
