Abstract:
The foundations of complex dynamics go back to the fundamental works of Fatou and Julia. That field deals with the behavior of analytic functions under iteration, (i.e. under repeated composition with themselves). Developments in computer technology made complex dynamics a very popular subject, lately. This talk will focus on a classical theorem proved by Denjoy and Wolff in 1926. The speaker's recent results relative to it will be presented. His methods are based, among other things, on composition operators.
