ROBLEM 2:
due September 01, 2000
You are given two different lengths of rope.
- Facts
- Light one end and either rope will burn up in exactly 1 hour.
- The density of each rope varies in an unpredictable way. So the
speed/rate that each rope burns varies unpredictably over its length.
Question: How can you use these two
ropes to determine when 45 minutes have elapsed? (You may use as many
matches as you need.)
